About Alexander

Alexander Hawkins is a contemporary art professional with valuable experience in curation, logistics, art handling, fabrication, arts writing, sales, technology, and client management. Born in Southwest Ontario, Hawkins received his BFA in sculpture with a minor in Art History from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2021 and has lived and worked in the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong throughout his 12 years in the arts.

Hawkins founded Hawkins Headquarters in August 2023 and independently operated the contemporary gallery in Atlanta for three years before returning to Canada. He built a network of collectors, artists, and collaborators across Atlanta, the United States, and Canada while managing every side of the operation—international shipping and art handling, travel, social media and the gallery website, artist and collector relations, press, grant and project funding, finances, collection building, artist career growth, contracts, leasing, scheduling, press releases, exhibition materials and even physically built the gallery himself.

Hawkins Headquarters program focused on showing early career artists from Canada and the American South. It built a roster of young talent, helping it grow over the years by placing works in notable private collections and institutional collections all over the world. Hawkins Headquarters made appearances in:

The Atlanta Journal Constitution, The Art Newspaper, Hyperallergic, Burnaway, Vanityfair, Observer and many other notable arts outlets during its 3 year span.
